About the Artist
Born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, and currently residing in Prattville, Alabama, Donna Richardson is a self-taught artist with a lifelong passion for the arts. As a child, she engaged in poetry, sketching, and dreamed of becoming a photojournalist. However, while raising children and pursuing a corporate career, her artistic aspirations were set aside.
Later, Donna rediscovered her love for the arts through Salsa and belly dancing, refurbishing furniture, and creating yard signs for her home-based business. She even painted two murals on her privacy fence. This reignited her creative spirit, making her realize painting was more than just a hobby—it was her calling.
"Music, dance, and painting are my escape to a place with a never-ending heartbeat," Donna says. "It’s my meditation, a spiritual experience that allows me to express joy and connect with the world. I hope my artwork touches the hearts of others and encourages them to explore their own creative potential."
Donna has a passion for textured art and working with a palette knife. She spends much of her time painting in her home studio, where her vibrant works often explore themes of nature. Grateful for the chance to return to her passion, she serves as Secretary with the Prattauga Art Guild where many of her pieces can be found for sale. Her work can also be found in two stores in Montgomery; The Artists' Alley booth at Amy's Antique Mall and at Southern Art Makers & Collective. She She believes her life experiences give her a unique perspective reflected in her art. Donna is discovering a style uniquely her own and she’s excited to see where her artistic journey will take her next.
